A brief about their backgrounds, their ambitions, their families and their entrance into mainstream banking. The book explains where in time were these four people who were starting out their careers in banking. Hjalmar Schacht, Currency Commissioner and President of the Reichsbank.Benjamin Strong, Governor of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Émile Moreau, Governor of the Banque de France.Montague Norman, Governor of the Bank of England.The four countries are United Kingdom, United States, France and Germany. The book discusses four countries and four central bankers. I just wanted to read this particular piece of history (central bankers, Pre-Post/WWI). I had zero inkling about the book’s fame. Was just browsing online when the title caught my attention. I had never heard of Liaquat Ahamed, nor about this book. To be blunt and no fault of hers, I can’t do that. My colleague Rabab Khan who amongst other hats also wears the hat of being my editor, keeps hammering away at my that my book reviews must follow a specific format. 1929, The Great Depression, And The Banks Who Broke The World
