Can i play too book5/8/2023 ![]() ![]() And yet little white boy is the one who gets ALL of the attention with nonsensical cards that I'm sure the average child would not understand.Ī little boy excitedly begins building a train track with a new friend that likes the same game. WHY?ĭid both boys not feel hurt? Did both boys not need comforting? Did both boys not need a grownup to check in with them and make sure everything was okay? Nothing explicit shows or mentions that the white boy is on the spectrum or needs extra help or extra attention. Now.what happens next is the important part for me: the teacher talks with the little white boy and NOT the little African American boy. Understandably feelings are hurt, the friend storms off, and playtime stops. ![]() Two little boys are playing the white one fully just bulldozes over what the African American one wants. I feel like the author misses a great opportunity and was possibly racist as well? I would love to know what others, poc, think of this, and if I am way of base, then I acknowledge humbly, how much I have to learn and take it as a chance to grow. ![]() This one though I am giving a hard pass and will not recommend. ![]() This was a BIG miss for me it's part of the "little senses" series, and I have liked the others and recommended them. ![]()
